How to Stitch ID Card Front & Back Into One Image

Banks, employers, and government offices often ask for a photocopy (or scan) of "both sides" of your ID card — Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, driving licence, you name it. If you're submitting digitally, they usually want a single image or PDF with both sides visible.

If you've taken separate photos of the front and back with your phone (or scanned them separately), you need a way to stitch them into one clean image. That's exactly what the ID Card Composer tool does.

What You'll Need

A photo or scan of the front of your ID card
A photo or scan of the back of your ID card

Phone photos work perfectly — just make sure the card is fully visible, well-lit, and not cut off at the edges.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Go to the ID Card Stitcher Tab

Open FormFocus and click "ID Card Stitcher" in the navigation bar. On mobile, open the menu (☰) first.

Step 2: Upload Front and Back

Click "Upload Front" and select the front-side image. Then click "Upload Back" and select the back-side image. Both will appear on an interactive canvas.

Step 3: Choose a Layout

You have two layout options:

Side by Side (Horizontal): Front on the left, back on the right. Good for landscape-oriented cards and when you want to print on a single row.
Top & Bottom (Vertical): Front on top, back below. Better for portrait-oriented submissions or when the final image needs to be tall and narrow.

Step 4: Adjust Gap and Position

The Gap slider controls the spacing between the two card images. A small gap (10–20 px) looks clean for most purposes. You can also drag each image on the canvas to fine-tune positioning, or use the corner handles to resize them.

Click "Auto Arrange" for a quick, evenly spaced layout. It works well for most standard cards.

Step 5: Download

Click "Download Stitched ID." You'll get a single JPEG file with both sides of your ID card neatly combined.

💡 Tips for Good ID Card Photos:

Flat surface: Place the card on a flat, contrasting background (dark table for a light card, white paper for a dark card).
Good lighting: Avoid flash — it creates glare. Daylight or a desk lamp at an angle is ideal.
Full card visible: Don't crop the edges. Make sure all four corners of the card are in the frame.
Straight angle: Hold your phone directly above the card, not at an angle. Some phones have a document scan mode that helps.
If the final file needs to be under a certain size, run the stitched image through the Resize & Compress tool.
