The first time you use this tool, your browser downloads an AI model (~88 MB) from a CDN. This model gets cached in your browser, so it won't re-download next time. The model uses something called ONNX Runtime (via WebAssembly) to analyse your image and figure out what's foreground (the subject) and what's background — then it removes the background and gives you a transparent PNG.
The whole process happens on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. This is particularly relevant if you're processing passport photos, ID card images, or anything with personal information.
Go to FormFocus and click "AI Background Remover" in the navigation bar. You'll see an information panel explaining how the tool works and its privacy guarantees.
Because the AI model needs to download (~88 MB on first use) and uses your device's processing power, FormFocus shows you a consent notice. It tells you what to expect — model size, processing time, browser requirements. Click "I Understand, Continue" to proceed.
This only appears once. After you accept, you go straight to the upload screen in future visits.
Click "Upload Image" and pick a photo. The tool accepts JPEG, PNG, and other common image formats.
Two things happen:

Once done, you'll see a before/after comparison slider. Drag it left and right to compare the original against the background-removed version. This is the best way to check that edges look clean and the subject is properly isolated.
Below the result, you'll see colour options: Transparent, White, Blue, Red, or a custom colour picker. This is great if you need a specific background colour — for example, passport photos in some countries require a white or blue background.
Click "Download Result." You'll get a PNG file with a transparent background (or your chosen colour). No watermark, full resolution.
